Featured Projects:

  • Academic Recovery
  • Expanding Access to Honors
  • Paid Research Opportunities
  • Inclusive Pedagogy Academy

This project seeks to help student who earned a D, F, or W in a first-year gateway course.  We will cover the students’ cost of retaking the course, enroll students in targeted sections with outstanding instructors, provide supplemental instruction, learning support, and peer support.  Our goal is to assure that students are successful on their second attempt

Historically the University Honors & Leadership program at CU Denver has welcomed incoming first-year students to participate in the University Honors & Leadership program.  Beginning In the 2021-2022 academic year new transfer students and continuing students will also be able to apply to the program and declare a minor in Honors.  They will participate in an array of opportunities that support and nurture academic excellence.

We recognize that many of our students need to work while they are in school. To make it possible for our working students to participate in Undergraduate Research & Creative Activities we offer faculty and students the opportunity to make their research experiences into paid positions.

The Inclusive Pedagogy Academy (IPA) is a professional development opportunity designed to help faculty learn about, practice, and implement inclusive and learner-centered practices in their teaching in a supportive environment with colleagues.  The IPA is offered once each year through the Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning and helps faculty to:

  • Identify societal, educational, and institutional systems and structures that promote or prevent equitable outcomes for all students.
  • Acknowledge the ways that the cultures of disciplines and classrooms perpetuate inequities.
  • Explain the ways their identities shape their teaching and interactions with students.
  • Recognize that students' social identities and experiences shape the ways that they perceive and participate in classes.
  • Explain how specific inclusive instructional practices promote equity and reduce barriers in learning environments.
  • Explain how inclusive classroom policies promote equity and reduce barriers in their classrooms.
  • Explain how specific inclusive messaging and communication promote equity and reduce barriers in learning environments.
  • Articulate how their teaching and learning attitudes and practices promote equity and inclusion.
